Unrestricted free WiFi coverage at Latitude Festival
intechnologyWiFi will be rolling out its free, unrestricted festival WiFi coverage to the tens of thousands of music fans attending the Latitude Festival in Suffolk, 16–19 July.
With today’s loyal music and festival fans itching to share and promote their experiences online in real-time across social media channels, intechnologyWiFi will be equipping those attending Latitude Festival (which has a capacity of around 35,000) with access to completely free, high-speed internet, without time or bandwidth limitations.
Latitude will see the likes of Alt-J, Portishead, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and the Manic Street Preachers among its headline acts, together with countless other performers representing a diverse mix of musical genres the festival has become known for catering to.
Following the successful delivery of free WiFi at Download Festival (the UK’s most popular rock and heavy metal music festival) last month, Latitude Festival will be the second of four festivals intechnologyWiFi is providing its unique solution at this summer, with Reading and Creamfields set for August. Download saw the intechnologyWiFi network serve up over 2TB of data – the equivalent of 11 million photos, 200,000 high quality videos, or over 25 million tweets shared.
intechnologyWiFi has significant expertise in providing blanket wireless coverage to festivals, where the high volume of people in a concentrated area often means traditional forms of connectivity (i.e. mobile/cellular) are often insufficient, or even unavailable. The company supported the WiFi provision for Hyde Park Festival and T In the Park last year, providing over half a million people access to share their photos and videos online at the click of a button.
Commenting on the line-up of festivals intechnologyWiFi is providing free WiFi for this summer, Glen Littlewood, Marketing Director of Live Nation UK – which manages Download and Creamfields – said:
‘Ensuring that those attending these events have fast, efficient, ‘always on’ WiFi coverage is central to creating unrivalled fan experiences that look to benefit our customers.
‘The partnership with intechnologyWiFi provides opportunity for an unprecedented understanding of our festival audiences, helping us to deliver a more tailored, safer experience, while optimum WiFi connectivity allows fans to engage seamlessly on digital channels.’
Natalie Duffield, CEO of intechnologyWiFi, said:
‘Our unique WiFi solution equips festival-goers with access to a high-quality, ‘always-on’ internet coverage, connecting them to the wider world.
‘With increasing numbers of fans seeking to connect immediately, in real-time, with the wider world by posting updates, photos and videos to Facebook, Twitter and the like, it is critical the seamless WiFi infrastructure is in place to allow them to do so. However, the issue faced by event organisers is that common connectivity infrastructure – such as 3G – simply isn’t up to the challenge. While 4G offers improved connectivity, users are likely to encounter exactly the same problems when trying to connect, as the number of users continues to increase.’
In a market flooded with providers of free, public WiFi, intechnologyWiFi is the only company with the financial power, technical expertise and resources to deliver a complete, end-to-end network and content solution for festivals and events, stadiums, and towns and cities.
intechnologyWiFi owns its hardware and software, and possess the in-house expertise required to design, install and maintain a seamless public WiFi network at a festival, from conception to completion – totally free for users.
