IntechnologySmartCities is the City of Edinburgh’s official provider of free public WiFi and was invited to provide additional equipment for the Tattoo, which takes place between 4 – 26 August this year.
This year’s spectacle embraces the theme, Splash of Tartan, and will celebrate the Tattoo’s Royal Navy lead and partnership with the Scottish Diaspora for 2017. All visitors are being encouraged to explore their connections with Scotland. More than 1,200 performers will play out to an audience of 8,800 each evening while the global television audience is expected to exceed 100 million.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is loved by audiences across the world as a stirring showcase of ceremony, entertainment and pageantry. Visitors will be able to post their unforgettable experiences of the Tattoo on their social networks, using the hashtag #SplashofTartan, helping to promote Edinburgh as one of the most exciting tourist destinations in the world.
The power of social media will amplify this fun, excitement and vitality to hundreds of millions of people across the planet. We are proud to be providing the digital infrastructure for this to take place. Our best-in-class public Wifi system will ensure that the thousands of visitors to The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo can enjoy seamless internet connectivity, something that mobile networks simply cannot provide. Whilst the Tattoo is famous for bringing people together in celebration of national and international identities, heritage and history, we continue to innovate and evolve.
Brigadier David Allfrey, Chief Executive and Producer of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, commented, “with digital technologies offering so many creative opportunities, we are determined to make the most of them.
